Garden Of Five Senses
This is a garden full of serenity & beauty, perfect for a quiet evening together. You could either go for a quiet stroll through the sprawling lawns with your partner, or sit in a secluded corner for whispering sweet nothings to your loved one. It is situated South of Saket, not very far from the Saket PVR complex. Catch a movie in the afternoon (to avoid the heat in the summer ofcourse), spend the evening, enjoying the nature trail at the garden of five senses & trust me, your date would not forget this day for years to come.
Suraj Kund (Faridabad)
SurajKund, although a barren dry lake, is very well know for its mela. But few know that it is also a very calm secluded place, with lots of little places to sit around & well…cuddle up. If you’re lucky you might be able to spot a few deer as well, adding to the sheer beauty of nature.
There are also a few resorts at the lake, where one can enjoy a weekend away from the hustle & bustle of the city. Though, theres not much to do in Surajkund, but if you are looking for a quiet, green place close to Delhi (the drive through the shooting range is worth it! ), then this is it.
Qutub Complex
Don’t go to the usual Qutub Minar place. This is a slight deviation from the Qutub Minar area which leads to the ruins near Qutub. You would hardly find any people around except probably a few deranged foreigners. But dont be afraid, its a safe place to take your lady (..or your hunk) out in the evening. There used to be “the one mile road ” adjacent to this complex, but now it is just a battered down street with closed shutters of famous designer labels & once top notch restaurants.
Parthasarthy Rocks, JNU
This is the place for eternal romantics, at least as far as JNU students are concerned. Of late the place has come under the eyes of the authorities, but see if that scares you from the lush green surroundings. But you want to avoid being labelled, a walk on the Ring Road in JNU campus, should be just fine.
Its a place where the polished meets the trendy. If you are game for an adventurous trek, this could be the place to be at.
Asiad Village
This place is usually surrounded by mid-aged couples & some young at heart. Its a swish joint for foodies too. I find this place to be a refreshing break from the usual pubbing, clubbing routines. Its serene, yet happening. Go in for a walk along the village periphery, or sit around at one of the tree shades sipping hot (or cold) coffee.
But what I personally love this place for is the “lip-smacking” food! Be it chinese, mughlai or even Japanese., you get it all. A slightly over-priced, but the entire experience is worth it.
Ego (Occasions), New Friends Colony
Ok. So we finally have a pub in the list. Well this is no ordinary pub ! Call it a restro-o-bar if you please, but this place is the ideal hollywood “ishtyle” proposing, (ring in desert), kind of place. Dim lighting, Soothing interiors, & non-interfrering waitresses (most important), all adds to the perfect ambience for a celebrated date.
Comesum (Nizamuddin)
Comesum, a delightful joint for the young couples of ’saddi dilli’. Its a place where the crowd comes after a tiring dance party, or a disco. It has a menu for every taste of yours…be it pasta, dimsums or a pizza. What’s more its a 24 hour joint located centrally. However, being situated outside (not so clean) Nizamuddin Station might deter a few to visit this food haven, yet this place is always brimming with scantily clad ladies struggling with their hangover & yearning for a cup of coffee or a bite.
But visit it in the after hours, & you would be surprised to see very decent couples (& by decent I don’t mean old!) hanging about the biryani stall or the ice cream parlour, which is famous for its casatta & mango flavors. This is a fairly decent place for a sweet experience (literally) with your “more than friend” or even your wife.
Open Terrace on 1st floor at Saket Citywalk
Ok. So this one is the latest fad in Delhi. Simply put in one word…. “fashionable”! Dont be surprised if you find that pair of shoes, she has her eyes on, from the time you set foot in the mall, to be more than a uhmmm… say a handsome 4 grand! But hang on…dont be disappointed by the posh outlets. There is a long & rather nicely done terrace on the 1st floor of this extravagant mall, which a few couples(mostly in their late 20s) frequent.
The winter breeze is the best if enjoyed here. Team it up with a hot cup of coffee from the nearby barista & you have a perfect laid back romantic evening that too in the middle of a shopping mall. I personally even like the crowd there…so rather than keeping an eye on the peeping Toms, you would have yourself lost in each other’s.
32nd Milestone, NH8
32nd milestone is a joint famous for its pioneer go karting track in Delhi. Its situated right off the National Highway to Jaipur, about 8 Kms from IFFCO chowk. Its sprawling green lawns & outdoor restaurant are a sureshot way to get your date all mushy & ‘melting’ with love. You are not disturbed by loud crowd as its a big lawn with plenty of tables & space. If you’re the sporty kinds, there’s pool tables, bowling alley & ofcourse the go karting track.
I would suggest going at around 7-8pm on a Friday night. The outdoor restaurant is decently priced & serves all kinds of cuisines ranging from chinese to mediterranean.
At the rooftop of your best friend’s place
Well, this last one is an old favourite with college goers. In my case I was mostly playing the ‘best friend’ part. But its an exciting way to spend an evening. Get a table, a few candles, wine & beer & Caesar Salad! Great way to spend a lazy evening with your special someone (sans the friend). If I had to rate this place or rather an idea, I would rate it as “strongly suggested” |
