Shri Ram Lal Anand, an eminent lawyer of the Supreme Court, laid the foundation of RLA College in 1964. Initially, the college functioned in Defence Colony and Green Park before moving to its present location at Benito Juarez Road, opposite Anand Niketan. The vision and public spirit to promote the cause of education culminated in launching Sri Venkateswara College in New Delhi under the famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The college began functioning in 1961 in a school building of the Andhra Education Society at Rouse Avenue with 271 students and 13 faculty members. The college moved to its present location in Dhaula Kuan on August 25, 1969.
