How many colleges are participating in the Common Aptitude Test in English?
As of now, 12 colleges have agreed to admit students in English (hons) through CATE. More are joining. Final list will be available when the application forms are released
When are the application forms for CATE going to be available?
The forms for CATE will be available from June 1 at Department of English, Arts Faculty, North Campus. It is advisable to fill the common form too for other colleges
If some colleges are not subscribing to CATE, how will they admit students in English (hons)?
The colleges not part of CATE will go by class XII marks
What is the eligibility criteria to sit for CATE? What will be asked in the entrance test?
Any student with minimum 60% aggregate in English plus 3 elective subject with at least 60% marks in English will be eligible. The test may have objective as well as subjective questions
FILLING UP FORMS
Do we need to submit the common admission form in person?
No. Admission form does not require any signature or a photograph of the candidate. So it can be submitted through anyone between June 1 and 15
Do we need to attach a copy of the marksheet with the common admission form?
No documents need to be attached with the form. All the certificates and marksheets will be required in original at the time of admission
Do we need to apply for hostel at the time of submission of admission forms?
A separate form of the college has to be submitted for a hostel seat. Admission to a college does not ensure a seat in the hostel
What is the procedure to apply through ECA/sports quota?
Along with the centralized form, a student is required to fill the individual form of the college for admission through ECA/sports quota. Every college conducts its own trial sessions On ELIGIBILITY
Can physical education be included in the marks of best four subjects?
It depends on colleges. Some colleges may accept it after deducting a few marks from the aggregate. Others may not consider it at all
Is there any deduction of marks if the student comes from a different state or a board other than CBSE?
No. DU does not deduct marks of students coming from outside Delhi. All central and state boards are taken at par while admission
Is there a quota for Sikh students at SGTB Khalsa College?
No. It only gives some relaxation, as determined by the admission committee, to the students from Sikh community & linguistic minority
