General Information For OBC candidates
In accordance with the Directives of the Government of India with regard to implementation of OBC Quota for admission, University of Delhi has decided to increase the total number of seats in each course by 18 % in the academic year 2008-2009.
Colleges and Departments of the University have been instructed to bring out separate cut-off lists for the General and the OBC categories of students.
Those belonging to the OBC category desirous of taking admission in the University and its colleges are required to indicate their caste status on the Pre-Admission OMR Form along with their certificate number.
The documents required at the time of admission are :
1. Original Class X Certificate
2. Original Class X Marksheet
3. Original Class XII Certificate/Provisional Certificate including Character Certificate
4. Original Class XII Marksheet
5. Original OBC Certificate ( Non-Creamy Layer certificate) issued by the designated authority.
6. Declaration/Undertaking for OBC candidate
7. Migration Certificate ( If You are coming from state other than Delhi)
Frequently Asked Question for OBCs (FAQ)
I belong to OBC. How can I register my name in different courses of different colleges?
There is no need of any registration. You can apply through Common Pre-Admission form available at 15 designated information centers of Delhi University from June 2 to 16, 2008.
I belong to OBC of Haryana state. Can I apply under OBC Quota in the colleges of Delhi University?
Yes, after confirming that your caste is listed in the central Govt. OBC list. (Refer websites www.ncbc.nic.in and www.du.ac.in for further details).
Once I have registered my name through common pre-admission form in a particular college, how will I know that whether I have got admission there or not?
Along with the cut-off list for general category separate cut–off list for OBC will be declared. If your percentage meets the requirement of that particular course and college then you can seek admission in that college within the stipulated period.
I belong to OBC Category but if I meet the cut-off for general Category also, then can I take admission in General Category as well?
Yes, even if you have applied under OBC category, you can take admission under general category as well, if you are covered under the cut-off for general category
Will I get relaxation in the minimum eligibility condition for admission to a course?
No, under OBC quota relaxation will be given in the cut-off percentage only. However, the minimum eligibility condition will be the same as that of general category.
Will there be separate cut-off for OBC and where can I see the cut-off?
Yes, there will be a separate cut-off for OBCs declared by the individual colleges which may be lower than General Category. Individual colleges will display their cut-off on the respective Notice Boards.
Is there any centralized admission facility for OBC category candidates?
No, the Pre-Admission process for OBC is through Common Pre-admission form and consequently admission will be granted by individual colleges.
Can I use OBC Quota and sports/ECA Quota simultaneously?
No, you can use only one Quota at a time.
Do’s and Don’ts :
1. Ensure that your OBC certificate contains information about non-creamy layer.
2. The OBC certificate should be in the name of candidate only.
3. The OBC certificate has to be produced at the time of admission and is not to be attached with Common Pre-admission form.
4. Students who have applied under OBC are eligible to be considered under general category also.
