This is my list of 10 must visit places around north and south campus. Reply if you think any other place should be on the list
North Campus
Chacha Chhole Bhature, Kamla Nagar
Surprisingly non-greasy Alu Bhature, with the lip-smackingly delicious chholey coupled with perfectly fried potatoes, fresh onions and green chillies. Chhole Bhature can’t really get better than this. Only problem, long queue of people waiting and the timing, yes the outlet closes by afternoon, sab khatam ho jaata hai yaar.
Kulfi at Bittu Tikki Wala (BTW), Kamla Nagar (Near Prem Studio)
You must have had kulfi at a lot of places, but the kulfi at BTW (Bittu Tikki Wala) is something you simply can’t forget. Its taste just lingers on forcing you to come back for a second serving. The rasgullas at his place is also awesome.
Roadside Momo, Bungalow Road
Traffic moves really slowly on the footpaths of Bungalow Road and one of the reasons for that is the momo wala near the spykars showroom. You’ll always find people surrounding it ordering there momos and the guy does not disappoint, serving ever delicious momos.
Irfans Maggi, SRCC
The ever favoutrite meal of people from DU, try it at Irfans in SRCC along with banta (lemon soda). This place serves one of the best and perfectly spiced maggis in the North Campus.
Arjun Pav Bhaji, Model Town
It has everything that you expect from a great pav bhaji - tangy, spicy, aromatic, well mashed and buttery. The pav is spiced, buttery & garlic. Generosity and modesty are another word for Arjun, he gives enough bhaji that would fill 3 plates at any other vendor and if you ask more he will give again for free. He also makes the most special vegetable pulao, full of veggies, spices, and soybean chunks.....simply superb
Bombay Bhel House, Kamla Nagar
Even if its called Bombay Bhel House, I don’t think they have any branch in Mumbai and the bhel at this place will put any bhel wala in Mumbai to shame. Simply one of the best bhel available in the country.
Rocky Juice Centre, Outram Lines
Apart from the regular juices, this place serves one of the best ‘Traffic Jam’, for the uninitiated, traffic jam is a heavenly mix of ice cream, fruits, nuts, chocolate sauce and cherries. My mouth has already started watering
On the Go, Opp. Hansraj College
For people fond of continental food, the newly opened on the go is a treat. Don’t forget to try their dynabites, simply awesome.
Keventers, Bungalow Road
Keventers in CP already has a name for it, but the one in bungalow road is no less. Make sure you try out the cold coffee at this outlet. Will put all the CCDs and Baristas to shame.
Tom Uncle Maggi
The legendary maggi makes a comeback, ask anyone in DU about Tom Uncle and tell you about his maggi. Though it has moved from his famous location in front of Miranda House, you can still savour it in the backlanes of Kamla Nagar
South Campus
PVR Priya, Vasant Vihar
This place has restaurants, coffee shops, shopping stores and more. Another attraction at Priya's Complex is the fountain area, where there are benches around to just sit and chat with friends or just hang around. A perfect place to spend an evening with friends
Select City Walk, Saket
One of the most beautiful malls of Delhi. It has gotta a huge open space and it houses all the major brands. Apart form that there is a food court and numerous restaurants to keep your taste buds happy. And not to forget PVR Cinemas. This place has enough armoury in its arsenal to keep you busy whole day. And in case you don’t find this enough, there two more malls adjacent to it.
M-Block Market, G.K.
The market for the young generation. Sports wear, womens wear, cosmetics, perfumes, lingerie, shoes, shades, chaat, nimbu soda, Mughlai food, coffee, ice creams, sandwiches and so much more. You will find everything here. Here, you always have the option to buy from the street vendors or from the retailers.
Comesum, Nizamuddin Railway Station
Comesum restaurant is located at Nizamuddin railway station, it’s a 24x7 restaurant. Though it really comes alive between 1 to 4 am, yes that’s right, that is the time when this restaurant receives the maximum number of crowd, mainly consisting of people from BPO’s out for a quick bite and a bit of socializing and the discotheque crowd returning after a night of partying.
As far as the food goes it’s quite good and one can order from a wide variety of south Indian, north Indian and Chinese vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. There is also a wide selection of snacks and deserts on offer.
Its also quite clean, not something that you would normally expect from a restaurant located on a railway station. So whenever you get hungry at night, this is the place to go.
Sarojini Nagar Market
Sarojini Nagar is one of the most sought after places in New Delhi, from where one can buy clothes and fabrics. The biggest attraction of the place is that, you can buy the most stylish outfits in India here, at unbeatable prices. If you have a nose for shopping and you can bargain, then this is the place for you. Apart from a large number of international and local brand showrooms, the crux of the market is formed by street side shops, selling garments of all designs and colors.
F-Bar, Hotel Ashok, Chanakyapuri
F Bar & Lounge is situated in Hotel Aashoka in Chanakyapuri. The lounge is an awesome place for all those who want to enjoy loud music and less light with a bit of dance. The place is also famous for its mocktails as well as cocktails, its ambience is perfect for party animals who love parties and discos.
Dilli Haat, Near AIIMS
Dilli Haat situated near AIIMS flyover, is a kind of a weekly market, organized on a much grander scale. It is a permanent haat that offers an amalgamation of handicrafts, food and cultural activities.
Dilli Haat is full of exotic variety of handicrafts and handlooms ranging from intricate woodcarvings to embellished camel hide footwear, to sophisticated fabric and drapery, to gems and beads to metal crafts, and so on.
You will find almost every type of traditional Indian food here. Many people go to this place just to taste these mouth-watering delicacies. Also, a number of regional food festivals are held here.
Lajpat Nagar Market
Lajpat Nagar is located in South Delhi between the well-known areas of Greater Kailash and South Extension. This is one of the most popular commercial areas of Delhi where a large number of shops are located ranging from the small local ones to the large branded showrooms. Think of any item and you are sure to find a number of shops in the market.
You can also spot some of the swankiest fashion stores here with all lavish dresses, interiors and accessories. If you are at Lajpat Nagar to decorate your dream home or to give aesthetic looks to your working area, you will be able to trace a number of furnishing stores and decor houses. The market is not only one of the oldest in the country but also highly fashionable, where you can get all the uptown accessories and clothing.
South Ex. Market
Situated on Ring Road, South Extension is divided into two parts - South Extension I and South Extension II . This is one of the most posh market place promising international shopping experience.
The market is quite famous for priced designer stuff and branded clothes. For Delhi's cash flush teenagers, the market is a bliss.
Mehrasons Jewelery Store, Bengali Sweet Market Centre (a restaurant and sweet shop), Teksons Bookshop, Mango (a high-end Spanish female clothing store), Nalli Saris, Sehgal Bros. (clothing) are some of the well renowned brands with their outlets here.
And that's not all. If you feel lost in international brands and wish to feel India, have Bhel Puri or Golgappas from the local stands. But if you are in a rapturous mood and want to tango then this area has some exquisite restro-bars, clubs and discotheques to tingle your limbs and make you dance all night long.
Nehru Place
Though not a typical students place, Nehru place is worth a dekko for its buzz. Located in south of Delhi and near Lotus temple, Nehru place is specimen of India’s IT potential. One of the most popular commercial areas of Delhi, it houses many commercial complexes, cinema halls, and thousands of shops and showrooms of branded and unbranded IT products. Here, you can also see the offices of many MNCs, including of Microsoft. The place is a busy center and buses from all parts of Delhi are available for this place.
