It seems Delhi University (DU) is all geared up to make your college life a memorable one by airing their television network.

After the successful launch of DU e-learning portal, the university is now planning to launch its own television network - Delhi University Television Network. The new project under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is scheduled to start before the next academic session and will connect 83 colleges and 51 departments.

In the first phase, all north campus colleges and departments will be linked followed by other colleges of DU. The web-based network can be watched through DU's e-portal and the officials plan to install three to four LCDs in every college.

With the help of the network, the college related information would be flashed every minute. About 80 computers along with wi-fi connections have already been distributed to different colleges.

Various programmes related to DU admission process, scholarship scheme, placements, sports activities, seminars and lectures will be aired from time to time. Once this television network gets launched, students will be able to watch this channel in their colleges.

In 2007, DU started a community radio station - DU 90.4 FM, at the School of Open Learning located in the north campus of the varsity. The broadcast range is restricted to a radius of 10 km and. The radio broadcasts community-related programs as well as those dealing with students' issues.

The screens installed in the canteen and corridor of my college(SRCC)present a handy medium to keep a tab on the quick bytes about the university. It has a got great potential, the only need is to use it properly.
