Around 500 students of Delhi University have secured jobs in a recruitment drive in the campus that ended on Tuesday.
In the three sessions held by the Central Placement Cell of the university, a total of 500 students have been selected for jobs in various companies.
However, the student turnout this time was less in comparison to the previous sessions where daily turnout was as high as 2000 from 58 colleges and various departments.
Sixty students have already been offered jobs and another 310 shortlisted in the last two sessions participated by companies like MIE, HCL and HDFC, a release by the university said.
Companies like Gandhi Fellowship, Wipro, HDFC, Genpact, Tech Mahindra, Aakash Institue, NDPL, Exchange, MIE, Capital IQ, Pravah, Indicorp, Dell and NewsX also participated in the drive.

The week long recruitment drive by the Central Placement Cell (CPC) of the University of Delhi from January 25 to February 3, 2010 was an overwhelming success with 371 students getting selected for jobs in various companies and a further 96 getting short listed for jobs and few results still pending. All major sectors including NGO’s offered diverse profiles. Response from the Delhi University was enthusiastic and a record number of 6,200 students appeared for interviews during the week. Few students who are Physically Challenged also participated today for Dell International Services and the process is in progress. Thirteen Student volunteers also worked tirelessly during the week.
Genpact, which has a long association with the University of Delhi, came for a second round of recruitment on February 2. Of the 210 students interviewed and tested Genpact selected 53. Earlier Genpact had come on January 28 and chose 78 students. All those selected will join as Process Associators.
Well known TV channel News X conducted group discussions and general knowledge tests in which 337 students participated. Their selection procedure was rigorous and they finally whittled down the number of students to a bare minimum, out of which seven were short listed on the basis of their ability to write scripts.
Tech Mahindra Ltd. in search of technical personnel in their BPO/KPO offered a salary package in the range of Rs. 1.2 to 1.7 lakhs. They conducted interviews on two days students and finally selected 68 students to join their company. Large number 550 students appeared for the selections tests of well known recruitment firm Making India Employable (MIE) Pvt. Ltd. MIE offered a pay package in the range of Rs. 1.5—2.25 lakhs. They finally shortlisted 44 students.
Dell Computers also responded to CPC’s drive for recruitment. Over 540 students appeared for the tests and interviews. Their process is in progress.
Two NGOs Pravah and Indi Corp also came to select students. Out of 80 students who appeared for interviews for Pravah they short listed 20. For Indi Corp, 92 students appeared and 35 were short listed.
An insurance company, HDFC Standard Life for the post of sales Development Manager chose 84 students. Another insurance company Xchanging Insurance Services (XIS) also short listed 46 students for the job of Process Associates.
Results are still awaited for NDPL, Capital IQ, Akash Education Services, News X, Pravah, Wipro Technologies and BPO; Indi Corp, ATS Services, Gandhi Fellowship and Teach for India. Many other companies are looking forward to the next round of the Placement Process. |
