For those interested in working with the elderly, the Delhi University’s Institute of Home Economics (IHE) at Hauz Khas Enclave offers a one-year post-graduate diploma in health and social gerontology.
Introduced for the first time in India, this course offers scientific study of biological, psychological, and sociological phenomena associated with old age and aging.
The course commences its first batch from July this year.
Dr. Yuki Azaad, a faculty member at the IHE, said: “Besides allowing them to work in old age homes, etc, the course also gives the students an opportunity to work with various industries, such as real estate, that take into account the overall requirements of the elderly.”
The eligibility criteria requires students to have completed BA, BSc, BSc (H) in sciences, social sciences or home science or a professional degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing with 50 per cent marks in aggregate. |
