Delhi University (DU) on Friday announced 18% reservation, an increase of 9%, for students
of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) from the
next academic session.
SK Vij, dean of students’ welfare, said at a press conference that along with the increase in reservation, there will be an increase in the overall number of seats for OBC students in each course.
"DU has decided to increase the number of seats in each course by 36%. That will bring up the total number of seats from 42,000 to 49,000," Vij said.
"From last year's 9% OBC quota reservation, this year the reservation will be increased to 18%. Next year, the reservation will be increased to 27% as per the directions of the Supreme Court and the human resources development ministry," he added.
The admission process in DU will begin on June 1 with the availability and submission of forms. The first cut off list will be announced June 25. |
