DU to hold English Hons entrance test

A year after scrapping the entrance exam for English (Honours), Delhi University is introducing a common test to ensure students have the ``literary'' aptitude.

Nearly 15 colleges have agreed to admit students this year on the basis of their scores in the proposed Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE). DU is planning to notify more colleges in the coming days. ``Colleges that do not agree to be part of CATE, will admit students on the basis of Class XII marks. But no college can conduct an individual entrance test for the English course,'' said Prof S K Vij, dean, students' welfare.
