The fourth and final cut-off list for undergraduate admissions of the Delhi University, released late on Monday, saw colleges struggling to fill the 27 per cent Other Backward Classes quota.
Even colleges, which had otherwise filled general seats in most courses, could not fill its allotted OBC seats. The trend was more prominent in Arts courses.
Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College, which has filled all its general category seats in all courses, is yet to fill OBC seats in any course. Bharti College, which has closed general category admissions to all but one course, has OBC seats available in all courses.
Lady Shri Ram College and Shyam Lal College registered “housefulls” in the Arts category.
BA (Hons) Economics turned out to be one of the most sought-after courses, with general category admissions closed in all colleges.
BA (Hons) Political Science follows, with general category seats available only in Ramjas and Maharaja Agrasen Colleges. BA (Hons) History is available only in seven colleges for general category students.
Sciences tell a different story, with admissions to BSc (Hons) Physics closing in all colleges, even for OBCs. Chemistry follows a similar pattern, with only OBC seats available in Ramjas, the only college where admissions are open.
Maitreyi and Shyam Lal Colleges recorded a “housefull”, while Miranda House and Rajdhani closed admissions to all general category seats. Shivaji College, which has closed admissions to all eight science courses, has opened waiting lists for OBCs to four of its courses.
Ramjas College, on the other hand, has OBC admissions open in seven of its eight Science courses. Zakir Husain, which has seven courses, has closed all admissions to six and has seats vacant only in BSc (Hons) Maths, for OBC.
Even for courses like BSc Physical Sciences and Life Sciences, which saw a dip in interest initially, admissions have picked up. BSc Physical Sciences (Computer Science) is open only in one of the 10
