A proposal by Delhi University (DU) to centralize the admission process to various DU colleges under the sports quota will make the admission procedure more transparent, a report by a committee created by the Vice chancellor says.
The committee had been created after the university had received many complaints that the admissions to colleges through the sports quota were being done randomly.
It has been proposed by the committee that the admission process through the sports quota should be done by the university itself instead of the colleges.
The committee is also planning to come up with a set of rules and guidelines for colleges to follow during the admission process as it would solve the issues of sports trials of various colleges clashing as well as a common schedule.
The admission to DU colleges under the sports quota depend upon certificates of recognition and trials. If the proposal is accepted, the candidates short-listed for admission would have to appear for trials conducted by the university.
Beginning this academic session, DU would be admitting students through the sports quota to postgraduate courses as well.
Earlier, the admissions to postgraduate courses were through entrance examinations. However, now, DU has decided to let students seek admission to PG courses through the sports quota. The trials and admission procedure for these PG courses in DU would be centralized. |
