3 Idiots comes from the makers of the super successful Munnabhai series. Add Aamir Khan to the mix, and you can rest assured that the film will generate humungous buzz. 3Idiots has music by Shantanu Moitra who has given music in films like Parineeta and Munnabhai series. Even though the music of the Munnabhai series films were not super successful, it did add a lot of value to the films and guess the same can be expected from the music of 3 Idiots. Mainly situational songs which will pick up enormously after the movie's release. So how does it actually turn out??
The album starts with the peppy number "All Izz Well" sung by Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Swanand Kirkire. This song is gonna be the new anthem of the youths and you are gonna hear "All Izz well" all around. Well written, peppy music and brilliantly sung, the song captures the emotions of college students brilliantly.
Next in line is,"Zoobi Doobi" sung by Sonu Nigam and SHreya Ghasal. Essentially a dreamy romantic number, the song has a vintage feel it. Though well sung, it does not register instantly. It has a happy feel to it and might pick up after the movie releases but as of now, it is the weakest track of the album.
Next comes "Behti Hawa" sung by Shaan and Shantanu Moitra. The song talks about the rebel, the one who choses his own path, the one who lives on his own terms. Very well written and melodiously sung. I don't know if it becomes the chartbuster or not, but everyone's gonna secretly love this song.
Next comes, "Give me sunshine", sung by Suraj Jagan and Sharman Joshi, the song has a "Sutta" feel to it (mind you, only feel not words). The song talks about reliving the moments, reliving the life in which you might have missed a lot. The songs gonna get lapped up by at least all final year students. You can see it being sung at various fests and parties all over. This one will pass the test of time and here for the longer haul.
Last comes (Before the remixes), Jaane Nahin Denge sung by Sonu Nigam. The song seems for someone who is on the death bed, and you just want him to comeback anyhow. Beautifully sung, the song is sure to give you goose bumps if timed well during the movie.
Then comes two remixes, one of "all izz well" and one of "zoobi doobi", don't think much needs to be said about them.
Overall, its a very good album and should be sureshot hit with college students, especially those who understand what hostels are all about. Even though it might not set the charts on fire initially, its sure to pick up amazingly after the movie. Personally, I really like the instrumentization and melody of the songs, which is very Indian and stays with you.
